20 kV Vacuum Circuit Breakers — ABB VD4 (Contract 32/2023)

Scope & Outcome

Rabbat Electric supplied a fleet of 20 kV ABB VD4 vacuum circuit breakers with matching cubicles, spare parts, testing, and operator training. The breakers replace life-expired units and restore switching reliability, fault interruption capacity, and protection coordination across the customer’s MV network.

Our delivery covered model selection and accessories (trip/close coils, spring-charging mechanisms, CT/VT interfaces), factory testing review, site acceptance testing, and familiarization for maintenance crews. The result is a modernized MV lineup with safer operation, faster fault clearing, and reduced downtime.

Deliverables

Supply of ABB VD4 20 kV VCB cubicles with accessories and spares (20 units)
Site acceptance testing: insulation checks, contact resistance, control-power, interlocks
Protection & functional testing: secondary injection, trip/close sequences, intertripping
Operator & maintenance training: safe racking, permit-to-work, periodic inspection
Handover dossier: data sheets, test records, recommended maintenance schedules

Note: Where required, we prepared retrofit kits and interface plates to match legacy switchgear footprints.
